synopsis

Harumi may be finished with graduate school, but he’s 31, unemployed, and not exactly living the dream! But when a beloved aunt passes away and leaves him in charge of his striking young cousin Kururi, Harumi suddenly feels his dull, depressing days take on an exciting new flavor…

Takasugi-san’s Obento serves up bittersweet memories and savory surprises in a perfectly-presented feast! Can a hapless post-grad help a severely shy junior chef come out of her shell? And will the unlikely duo learn to both cook and live in sweet harmony?

editorial reviews
GoodComics - Ken H.
With light humor, and an emotionally engaging hook, Takasugi-San’s Obento, Vol. 1 is an enjoyable and touching read. I just hope that the hints about a possible romantic relationship between the Harumi and Kururi are snuffed out quickly and handled in a way that doesn’t pander to fans of those kinds of pairings.

  A decent read
by Willow  09/01/2013
Takasugi-San's Obento was a light, humorous, and surprisingly well written book. The conversation and dialogue are light and simple, the characters a bit stereotypical, but overall, it was fairly enjoyable. It was actually easy to sympathize as the characters communicate through obentos and learn how to become a family. The innuendos hinted towards Harumi and Kururi's relationships are a bit awkward due to their delivery (as well as the fact that she's his cousin and underage; not really recommended for people squicked by this).

The pace of this manga can drag on or stall, and there isn't anything to make this really stand out. It's an easy read, however, and if you're looking for a simple slice of life manga, then Takasugi-San's Obento would be right for you.
